Year after year, the impact of storytelling at film festivals is reflected in one powerful symbol: the poster. Some festivals consistently aim to create the most accurate depiction of their themes, perspectives, tributes, and environmental messages in a single graphic print.
This year, an impressive list of fifty bold, beautiful, and expressive posters was selected. The techniques, media, and multimedia used in their creation were also taken into consideration. The range includes oil and acrylic paintings, as well as animated illustrations. Even AI or hybrid methods are included, as long as the creators and festivals clearly disclose the media the artists used.
The dominant colors this year are green, light blue, pink, and pastel shades. The recurring theme centers on fantasy, highlighting the celebration and unity of the human spirit through cinema.
In design, we should follow the five core principles, known as the ABCs of design: alignment, balance, contrast, hierarchy, and repetition.
At a curatorial level, our systematic evaluation depends on five design elements: theme, focal point, color, information, and typography. If one aspect falls short or exceeds its target, the other elements elevate their standards, leading to greater success and impact for consideration. This illustrates that an outstanding and engaging work of art deserves our appreciation and recognition.
The order of this selection is crucial. From start to finish, the pieces development is based on achievements and mastery levels. Viewers can discover beauty and meaning that ignite their curiosity.
Browsing through our digest, for the viewer, is like uncovering stories from different countries and cultures within those regions, with the goal of someday visiting and experiencing in person, what that unique film festival has to offer—renowned filmmakers, actors, movie fans, tourists, and people eager to expand their cultural horizons.
