José Alberto Hermosillo is a respected journalist and filmmaker based in LA, covering film festivals in the city. He graduated as an elementary and middle school teacher and spent eight years teaching in his hometown. He earned an Associate in Arts and a Bachelor's degree in Cinema Production, both from Los Angeles City College. In 1999, he directed the award-winning short film "My Brother/Mi hermano." Later, he directed the shorts "El Artista" and "The Strange Death of Menfisto Niño." He worked as a script consultant on "Tattooed Love," which premiered in Hollywood and earned him his first IMDb credit. He worked as a journalist for "Al Borde Magazine" and "Kiosko News" in Spanish. In 2014, he founded an English-language website, www.festivalinLA.com, which has received 1.8 million views. He was a juror at Voce Spettacolo Film Festival in Matera, Italy; Feratun Fest 2022 in Michoacán, Mexico; and the Celebrity Film Awards in Italy. In 2025, he was a juror for the prestigious "Shorts Mexico" (International Shot Film Festival of Mexico). Mr. Hermosillo plans to direct an original screenplay he wrote, "The Lady's Corsage/El ramo de la novia," a story of angels in Los Angeles.
